This one was from back from my summer vacation to the Outer Banks of North Carolina, that I just got around to editing. This one is a simple one image edit using Topaz B&W Effects and Photoshop Creative Cloud. One thing I love about a composition like this is the ability to capture that sense of depth in the image. The one thing I tried different on this one was to use the fusion express 64bit processing combining Topaz B&W and Photoshop to bring out the details and light in the posts on the pier.
The sunrise wasn’t as awesome this morning as I had hoped, so I changed things up by using a B+W 10 stop ND filter. It’s amazing how a 30 second exposure can totally change the look and feel of a photograph! This one is pretty similar to one I shot last year at Sunset Beach in North Carolina, but I’m liking this one a little better. However both of them have been awarded 🙂 http://www.viewbug.com/photo/3948351
This one came from my visit to the Currituck Lighthouse located in Corolla, NC. (You can see more about the lighthouse here http://www.currituckbeachlight.com/about/) You can climb to the top of the lighthouse for a small fee. The line was long and I’ve already been to the top so I skipped that part. Instead I wandered around the grounds looking for different angles to shoot the lighthouse and I found a good one at the end of this walkway.
Just three more days until I leave for the coast of North Carolina. I’m totally excited for this trip, can’t wait to get up early every morning head to the beach to capture the sunrise. Relax all day then head out again every evening for more photography 🙂 sounds like a plan to me! Here’s one from last year’s beach trip, which was just after I had attended Trey Ratcliff’s “Art Of Photography” workshop.
Everyone have a great 4th! I plan on grabbing some fireworks photo’s if the weather cooperates. 🙂
No tripods allowed sir! You’re going to have to either leave that with us or take it to your car…. The dreaded words!
I can understand not up in the lighthouse maybe, but come on give me a break. Anyway if you plan to visit the Tybee Island Lighthouse leave the tripod in the car. It’s no use to argue with the lady at the ticket booth, it will get you nowhere… So this photograph was taken about mid day as I was going up into the lighthouse, nothing fancy, no fancy post processing ( other than to remove the people standing in my way) I really wish I had updated the firmware on my Sony NEX-5N before this trip or even put it in my bag for that matter. I can shoot handheld HDR’s with it fairly well I have recently found out… like the last photograph I posted “Sunset Through The Purple Vetch” handheld 3 exposures while lying on my belly.
Wanted to share a coastal themed picture to get me in gear for my trip next weekend to the coast of North Carolina…. OBX here we come! I can’t wait to wake up early in the morning to grab those awesome sunrises on the beach and the late evening sunsets at the many lighthouses, piers, and marina’s. Stay tuned plenty of photographs to come! Oh and the NEX will be in my camera bag!
