Photo Share – Holden Beach Sunrise
Here’s a photo from my recent trip to one of my all time favorite beaches – Holden Beach, NC. I absolutely love this place if you haven’t visited it yet you should give it a try!

Another year has almost come and gone. Looking back through this years photo’s a few stand out from the rest, for one reason or another. I had the chance to visit some new places this year like my trip in the spring to Savannah, GA. That trip was probably the most memorable of the year, I captured lots of great moments and landscapes some of which I have yet to share.
Throughout the year I feel I made significant progress in my photography goals I set for the year. One of the biggest goals I had set was to be published in a major publication, which I accomplished in the April/May edition of Mysterious Ways by Guideposts Magazine. I was featured on the Outdoor Photographer Website back in June which was a great honor to have my work shown along side some of the best landscape photographers in the world. I created my first ever Landscapes & Nature Calendar for 2014 which is now available to order for $25.00. This past week I have the featured photograph on the ViewBug Facebook and Google+ Pages. So with all that I must say it’s been a great year and I hope to continue in this direction in 2014.
I dropped my Canon 6D while visiting the Outer Banks of North Carolina, but Canon CPS came through and had it fixed in a few days. But the worst thing that happened in my life this year was losing a part of our family.. Lance our Siberian Husky passed away after 13 years of being a family’s best friend.
I hope to visit and explore new and exciting places this coming year and I will share these places with the world. My first ebook will be released in early spring of 2014 and possibly a second one shortly after that. I’m looking forward to creating tutorials and videos to go along with my photographs in 2014 to bring an even better behind the scenes and helping others who want to learn.
We’ve recently added a new member to our family Angel who is our 12 week old Siberian Husky and a handful to say the least. 🙂
Here’s to a Happy Holidays to everyone!
I want to wish everyone a safe and happy Thanksgiving! I’m very thankful for all of the supporters of my photography, my family and friends! I would also like to take the time to thank all of the kind people who have helped me along the way of my photographic journey. Some of these are Trey Ratcliff (Stuck In Customs), Scott Kublin (HDR Photography Blog), Varina Patel (Photography By Varina), Curtis Warwick (Really Nice Light), Jon Beard (JonBeard.com) and the whole Exposure Roanoke Group!
This one was taken on the Blue Ridge Parkway here in Virginia a few weeks back on a cold and windy morning. I absolutely love landscape photography! There’s just something about getting to a spot, setting up your gear and waiting for the sun to pop up over the horizon that just never gets old!
I wanted to let everyone know that Topaz Labs is offering the Complete Collection on sale for $199.99 (normally $379.99) by using the promo code “blackfriday2013”. This is a sweet deal for anyone who’s been thinking about purchasing this software. You should checkout my reviews of Adjust, Clarity and Restyle for some more information about these products.
This past Sunday I had the pleasure to walk around and photograph the city of Roanoke, VA with some members from Exposure Roanoke. Exposure Roanoke is a local meetup group who host numerous events for photographers of all skill levels, from hikes to photographing people in need. If you’re interested in photography you should definitely check them out!
My Canon 6D is off to CPS for repairs…. so for this walk I was using my trusty Canon T2i, which by the way I just replaced with a Canon 60D this week (thanks to B&H Photo for the awesome deal! *body only $599 until Aug 31st*) I might miss the old camera… it’s the one I cut my teeth on and learned after so many mistakes and not once did it let me down….
Here’s a photograph I took giving you a look inside the fort walls, this is looking down the hall into one of the quarters. As you can tell there is a door made of bars, I’m not sure if this was for protection or to lock up the captured soldiers. This national monument is a cool place to visit, with the huge cannons and remarkably old structure which has seen many battles and still looks amazing! If you’re ever in Savannah Georgia I recommend you check it out!
This image was created using 5 exposures using my Canon 6D processed using Photomatix, Topaz Clarity, Topaz Adjust and Topaz Detail.
Here’s a few pictures I took of my oldest son right before he went to the Salem High School Prom. Yes I shoot normal portraits too not just HDR and landscapes, not as often as landscapes but I do them. For more information about portraits, family, school, birthdays or events just use the contact form on this site. Mini sessions start at $60.00 which include 30 minutes of shooting at a single location (within the Roanoke/Salem area). I will travel to do photography at your even too so feel free to contact me with your information and the details for pricing.
