I Saw It In A Magazine

I visited this spot last year while on vacation not knowing what landscapes awaited me on Bird Island. NC. I first assumed birds so the camera I grabbed for the walk was my T1i and my 70-200mm F4L. On the walk down the beach a little girl approached me and asked “Are you going to the mailbox?” I had no idea what she was talking about and politely said no. After walking what seemed to be eternity I could see a lonely flag blowing in the breeze and as I got closer I could see a path going up to this flag pole. Once I got up to the path I noticed two benches and a mailbox which read Kindred Spirit on the side of it, so I backed up into the surf and snapped off a few photographs of the mailbox. One of these photographs I uploaded to Flickr around last August and it got a little bit of interest, that was until I received a call from Guideposts Magazine asking to use the photo for an upcoming article in the April Edition. To celebrate this event I’m offering 20% off all print orders from www.nfirebaughphoto.com to get this special offer just use the code PUB20 during checkout! I want to send out a special THANKS to all my fans, friends and supporters who keep me going.

Crazy Weather In Virginia

Man the weather sure has been weird lately…. a mixture of snow, 70 degree days, more snow, 6″ of rain and more snow….  I’m really not sure what to think about all of this. But on the photography side of things it has allowed me some warm days to get out and capture some sunsets and sunrises. After the first snow storm I went out to capture the sunrise with the fresh snow on the ground and sticking to the tree limbs the final image was one of the best so far in 2013 and was featured on the front page of the Salem Times Register on February 7, 2013.

URBEX Exhibit At The O. Winston Link Museum Roanoke,VA

By | Canon T2i, HDR Photography, Photography | No Comments

The O. Winston Link Museum in downtown Roanoke,VA is displaying the work of 10 local photographers in the new URBex ( Urban Exploration) exhibit.  I was lucky enough to have one of my Photographs chosen to be on display thanks to the Exposure Roanoke Group. My picture on display is one that I took under the Walnut St. bridge during sunset, the sky had some amazing colors and it’s an HDR image I created using multiple exposures and edited in Lightroom and Photomatix Pro. I’m currently working on a series of tutorials for how I do my HDR photographs and also some presets I will have for sale shortly for Lightroom 4. Here’s the picture that’s hanging up and if you get a chance to stop by you should check out the museum!

The Great Smoky Mountains National Park

By | Canon T2i, Landscapes, Photography, Tennessee | No Comments

So I had the oppurtunity to take two trips last year to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennessee, to capture the amazing beauty of the moutains, views, creeks and nature. I spent hours just in the miles and miles of creeks and streams in the park, it seemed every half mile I spotted something that I wanted to get a better look at and photograph. There are a number of HDR photographs I’ve uploaded to my portfolio from the two trips and I’ve still got more to process. I found this one to be interesting and  just had that cool feel to it, it was taken in low light close to dark using a long exposure and processed using IR.

I Love SmugMug

By | Photography, Tech Talk | No Comments

So you’re probably asking what is SmugMug? It’s the best place for your photographs in my opinion, I use them to store all my completed works that are available to purchase. It’s simple to use and gives you an online store in a matter of oh I’d say an hour or less. You sign up for an account, setup your galleries, upload your photo’s, set your pricing structure and you now have a place to sell your work. I also use this to store the photographs I take on shoots, by making them password protected only the client can see the pictures and download them straight off the Internet. Which means I don’t have to make copies and deliver them or mail them out to my customers. So if you’re looking to sell your work online or to get your work to your clients faster and cheaper take a look at SmugMug.
